I/G softball team falls to Wildcats, Beavers
The Independence/Gilmanton softball team’s losing streak reached six last week as it dropped a pair of close games.
The Indees fell behind early against Blair-Taylor and couldn’t get back in the game last week Tuesday (see story elsewhere in Sports). The team took a late lead on Friday against Augusta, but the Beavers rallied for the 4-1 win.
The losses put I/G at 3-6 overall and 1-5 in Dairyland Conference play. The team was set to host Eleva-Strum on Tuesday of this week before playing at Eau Claire Immanuel Lutheran on Thursday. This coming Tuesday, they’re scheduled to play at Alma Center Lincoln.

The Beavers responded in the bottom half of the inning after a leadoff walk was followed by two straight singles to tie the game. Augusta took the lead on a fielder’s choice then two more runs scored on another single.
