Indee baseball team sweeps four in DC play
The Independence/Gilmanton baseball team is getting hot at the right time.
The Indees won four Dairyland Conference games last week to surge into third place in the DC standings with an 8-4 record. I/G began the week with a 9-3 win over Pepin/Alma on Monday before pulling away from Eau Claire Immanuel Lutheran late for a 6-2 road win on Tuesday. The team hosted ECIL on Thursday, pulling off the sweep with a 2-0 win before besting Alma Center Lincoln, 11-2, on the road on Thursday.
I/G closed the regular season with a home game against Cochrane-Fountain City on Monday. That’s the same team I/G’s Wisconsin Interscholastic Athletic Association tournament begins against as the seventh-seeded Indees will host the 10th-seeded Pirates on Thursday. The winner of that game will play the winner of the game between (3) Blair-Taylor and (14) Greenwood this coming Tuesday.
