Wagner paces county golfers in first Coulee meet
Claire Wagner tied for the third-lowest score of any golfer in the first Coulee Conference meet of the season last week at Viroqua Hills Golf Club, and Gale-Ettrick-Trempealeau played to a second-place finish.
Arcadia finished third as a team with 281 strokes at the meet, which Black River Falls won with 248 strokes. Three teams had enough golfers to post team scores, which were rounded out with a 255 from G-E-T.
Wagner’s 15-over-par 51 tied her for third with Amanda Christianson of Westby/Viroqua. The G-E-T senior’s best showing was on the 122-yard 13th hole, where her 3 was good for par.
Junior Jazlynn Olson finished just behind Wagner in fifth place with a 57, a score that included a par on the hole 16, a 285-yard par 4.
Maddi Fletcher of Westby/Viroqua took medalist honors on her home course, carding a 4-over-par 40.
Golfers played the front nine’s first three holes before finishing the round with holes 13 to 18.
Arcadia’s best score came from sophomore Riley Walters, whose 63 placed her 10th on Wednesday. The Raiders also got a 70 from sophomore Amaya Schlesser and a 73 from sophomore Annabelle Russell.
Arcadia’s Sacia Boland tied G-E-T’s Madeline Ruud as well as teammate Jordan Walters, all shooting 75. Kalyce Sobotta of Arcadia scored a 76.
G-E-T also saw freshman Julia Baures finish with a 72.
Arcadia and G-E-T continued play with an event this Tuesday at The Grove Golf Course in Cochrane.
