G-E-T Areas's Gallup shines at Coulee Conference meet

G-E-T senior Taylor Gallup is no stranger to success during her time with the Gale-Ettrick-Trempealeau/Melrose-Mindoro/Cochrane-Fountain City gymnastics co-op. The latest chapter in her decorated career came this past weekend, where she shined bright at the Coulee Conference meet.

Gallup cleared the rest of the field in the all-around competition, the vault, the beam and the floor at the conference meet last Friday in West Salem.

All-conference honors were determined at the meet, with first place and second place representing first- and second-team all-conference while third through fifth place in each event earning an honorable mention.

Gallup’s all-around score of 36.925 put her ahead of Kennedy Garbers (35.850) of the West Salem/Aquinas/Bangor co-op in second and fellow GMC teammate Jayden Thill (35.800) in third. The Westby/Viroqua/Cashton/De Soto (WVCD) co-op’s Isabell Korn (35.100) took fourth and GMC’s Reesa Beilke (34.000) placed fifth.

The vault standings featured Gallup (9.175) in first, West Salem co-op’s Olivia Maki (9.15) in second, Korn (9.075) in third, WVCD’s Peyton Sprosty (9.000) in fourth and Thill (9.000) in fifth.

Thill was victorious for GMC in the uneven bars, posting a winning score of 8.750. She was followed by West Salem’s Layla Hirschboeck (8.575) in second, Gallup (8.575) in third, West Salem’s Hayden Rohde (8.575) in fourth and Garbers (8.400) in fifth.

Gallup’s winning score of 9.575 on the balance beam made her the lone GMC all-conference representative in that event. Korn (9.300) placed second followed by a trio of gymnasts from the West Salem co-op: Garbers (9.250) in third, Maki (9.100) in fourth and Grace Olson (9.050) in fifth.

Gallup won the floor routine win a score of 9.600. She was followed by Korn (9.300) in second, Garbers (9.250) in third, Camdyn Lyga (9.250) in fourth and Thill (9.200) in fifth.

The West Salem co-op captured a fourth consecutive conference championship with a team score of 141.40, with GMC (140.85) in second and WVCD (133.25) in third.

The GMC co-op is back in action in Wisconsin Rapids as part of a Division Two sectional on Friday at 5 p.m.
