Mary J. Waniorek

Mary Jane Waniorek (née O’bieglo) passed away peacefully, March 8, 2025, at the age of 82, surrounded by her children.

Mary Jane was born March 24, 1942, in Arcadia, to the late Roman and Angeline O’bieglo. She grew up on a farm with her many brothers and sisters, often sharing stories of caring for them during their childhood. Mary Jane married the love of her life, Richard, (of Independence) in 1962, and they moved to Milwaukee, where they built their life together. After Richard’s passing in 2004, Mary Jane carried on with strength, but now, she is at peace, reunited with him.

Mary Jane was a homemaker for most of her life, and she also provided daycare and elder care services. She spent about five years working in billing at the Medical College of Wisconsin where she made lasting friendships. She was a woman of spirit with a spicy personality, always generous to her brothers, sisters and their children.

Mary Jane loved many things in life, from attending her children’s and grandchildren’s school events to playing the slots at local casinos. She found joy in shopping, and one of her favorite pastimes was enjoying margaritas at La Fuente with her sister, Phyllis, who passed before her. Above all, she treasured her family—her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren—and felt immense pride in watching them grow.

She is survived by her children: Jim (Stephanie) Waniorek and Jamie (Herbie) Dillon; her grandchildren: Tiffanie (Zach) Wren, James Waniorek Jr. and Joseph Oberlander; her great-grandchildren: Jurnee, Hunter and Rylie; her surviving siblings: Eva Soppa, Roger O’bieglo and Butch (Conrad) O’bieglo; as well as many nieces, nephews, and friends.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Richard; and siblings: David, Dale, Phyllis, Caroline and Delores.

Mary Jane’s passing leaves a hole in the hearts of all who knew her, but her legacy of love, generosity, and spunk will live on in her family. She will be dearly missed. In lieu of flowers, purchase a scratch off lottery ticket in her honor and Good Luck!
