Teske, Kolstad lead Raiders at Blue Devil Invite

Seniors Ted Teske and Ben Kolstad helped lead the charge for the Arcadia boys at their most recent track meet, contributing points both individually and as part of the same relay team.

Teske had the best showing of any Arcadia athlete as the Blue Devil Invite last Tuesday on the campus of UW–Stout in Menomonie, placing second in the long jump. Teske was one of only two competitors to clear 20 feet, posting a mark of 20 feet, 2 inches. Eau Claire North junior Ezekiel McCandless won the event with a meet record of 21 feet, 9.5 inches.

Kolstad placed third overall in the pole vault by clearing the bar at 11 feet, 6 inches. He finished behind only Superior junior Tyler Willoughby (12-6) in first and Alma-Pepin junior Justin Bergmann (12-0) in second.

Arcadia senior Andy Monroy placed fourth in the boys’ 3,200-meter run and junior Jerson Sanchez took fifth in the 55-meter hurdles.

The Raider boys also registered points from senior Trey Lyga placing sixth in the shot put, Teske taking seventh in the 200-meter dash and the team of David Escalera, Alec Conrad, Teske and Kolstad coming in eighth in the 1,600-meter relay.

Arcadia accumulated 29 points to place seventh in the boys’ team standings.

The Raider girls had five points total, which all came from freshman Kalani Vazquez taking fourth in the shot put.

Arcadia is back in Menomonie for the UW–Stout Elite Indoor Meet Thursday starting at 3 p.m.
