Red Hawks reign supreme at Chuck Walek Invitational

In their last meet ahead of regional competition, the Gale-Ettrick-Trempealeau track team shined at the Chuck Walek Invitational last Thursday in Whitehall.
The Red Hawks finished atop the team standings for both the boys and girls. In the boys’ standings, G-E-T accrued 122.5 points to finish ahead of Whitehall (107) in second and Arcadia (101) in third. The Red Hawk girls had 118 points to finish nearly 20 clear of Eleva-Strum (99) in second.
G-E-T’s Carter Giemza crossed the finish line first in the 800-meter run and Adrian Bautista won the 1,600-meter run. The Red Hawks also got a win in the 400-meter relay courtesy of Max Knapmiller, Mikah Vail, Kyle Seiling and Isaiah Carroll.
The Whitehall boys won four events: Kivin Juresh in the 100-meter dash, Mason Przybylla in the 400-meter dash, Karston Ausderau in the triple jump and the team of Caydan Johnston, Ausderau, Devin Hutsell and Juresh in the 800-meter relay.
Arcadia had winners courtesy of Ted Teske in the long jump (also second in the high jump), Trey Lyga in the discus throw and two relay teams: Ben Kolstad, Teske, Trevor Pronschinske and David Escalara in the 1,600-meter relay and the quartet of Andy Monroy, Matthew Badillo, Camren Schultz and Alec Conrad in the 3,200-meter relay.
Blair-Taylor’s Connor Kruse won in the 200-meter dash and also placed third in the 100-meter dash.
On the girls’ side G-E-T’s Jasmine Tarjeson was victorious in the 1,600-meter run. The Red Hawk quartet of Reyna Garcia, Claire Breidenbach, Myrabelle Pretasky and Clara Schulze won both the 400- and 800-meter relays.
Other area winners of girls’ events were Arcadia’s Jaylie Dahl in the 400-meter dash, Whitehall’s Bria Pank in the triple jump and the Independence/Gilmanton team of Kia Back, Allie Sylla, Angie Martinez and Hannah Gierok in the 3,200-meter relay.
