GMC fourth at McLellan Invite

At one of the bigger meets they’ll compete in all winter, the G-E-T/Mel-Min/C-FC gymnastics co-op acquitted themselves quite well this past weekend in Holmen.

The GMC gymnastics team finished fourth out of 15 in the combined standings at last Saturday’s McLellan Invite at Holmen High School, where teams were broken up into one of two sessions in either the morning or afternoon. GMC was one of seven teams competing as part of the afternoon session.

Stevens Point finished atop the combined team standings with a total score of 143.65, ahead of the West Salem co-op (142.2) in second, Marshfield (141.75) in third and GMC (136.275) in fourth.

GMC’s Jayden Thill was fourth in the individual all-around standings with her mark of 35.375, behind only Sparta’s Gabrielle Bjorkman (36.9) in first, Marshfield’s Jazlyn Kurth (36.875) in second and Stevens Point’s Riley Mueller (36.1) in third.

Reesa Beilke also earned a top-10 finish for GMC in the all-around standings, coming in 10th with a score of 34.75.

Thill also led GMC in each of the four events, finishing sixth overall among all competitors in the vault (8.85), ninth in the floor exercise (9.325), 15th in the uneven bars (8.5) and 16th in the beam (8.7). Beilke came in eighth in the vault with her mark of 8.725.

GMC’s other all-around scores included Kinley Giemza at 30.95, Elleigh Gilliland at 24.8, Izabella Bear at 24.2 and Margo Foust at 16.075.

The next meet on the docket for GMC comes at the end of the month, where they’ll be part of the field for an invitational at Performance Elite Gymnastics in La Crosse on Saturday, Jan. 31 starting at 10 a.m.
