Elda Mae Erickson

Elda Mae Erickson, 96, formerly of Arcadia, WI, and also Minneapolis, MN, and New Richmond, WI, passed away Thursday, February 26, 2026, at Deerfield Gables Nursing Home in New Richmond, WI.
Elda was born March 7, 1929, to Lewis C. and Lydia L. (Theurer) Kreid in Arcadia, WI. After high school, Elda started her career with Trempealeau County Electric in Arcadia, and worked there from 1946 to 1963. She then married Edward (Ed) Erickson, and they moved to Minneapolis, MN, where she then worked for Farmers Home Mutual Insurance Company from 1966 to retirement in 1995.
Elda and Ed enjoyed creating their beautiful boulevard full of flowers each year while living in Minneapolis. It was truly a masterpiece. Elda read many books. She loved her tacos, BLTs and liver. Poppy seed and raspberry coffee cake from Bushy’s Bakery of Independence was always a treat. She and Ed enjoyed bowling, reading the Bible together and putting together picture puzzles. Elda was always knitting and crocheting. If you knew her, you most likely have one of her masterpieces. She enjoyed her computer, keeping in touch with distant relatives and staying current with all Green Bay Packers news. Elda was a Green Bay Packers fan – second to none. Elda enjoyed going shopping and would talk to nearly everyone in the store. Her favorite line was “ Hi, my name is Elda and I’m a Green Bay Packers fan”. After moving back to her home state, she took a liking to Spotted Cow, a beer exclusively offered by Wisconsin. When we stopped for a bit to eat in Minnesota, she would always ask the server for a Spotted Cow and then enjoyed listening to them explain why they didn’t have Spotted Cow. She was a firecracker at times. She will be missed but not forgotten.
While living in Minneapolis, she and Ed were very involved in Lake Nakomis Lutheran Church. They volunteered, working at nursing homes and Meals-on-Wheels for the needy. After her husband Ed passed in 2017, she became a resident at Deerfield Independent Living which she really enjoyed. Later, she moved to assisted living and then about a year ago she moved into long term.
Elda, a/k/a Auntie Elda, is survived by many nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, great-great nieces, great-great nephews; and her loyal friend, Helena Bottolson; and many others who knew her. Auntie Elda was the last member of the ‘Greatest Generation’ from our relation.
Elda was preceded in death by her parents, Lewis C. and Lydia L. (Theurer) Kried; brother, Emmett; her dear (Packers) friend, Florence (Erickson) Urbick; and her loving husband of 54 years, Edward.
Our expressed gratitude to Presbyterian Homes Deerfield in New Richmond, WI and their wonderful and friendly staff and many kind residents.
