Wildcats can’t fly with Eagles in DC opener

Alma/Pepin scored three touchdowns in the first quarter and Blair-Taylor never answered in a 42-0 loss in Alma last week.

The Eagles, ranked fourth in Division 7 in the Bound Wisconsin Coaches Poll, figure to compete for the title in a stacked Dairyland Conference this year. They quickly established control against the Wildcats. 

A/P ran for 270 yards and five touchdowns in the game, led by Anders Seifert, who scored three touchdowns and ran for 138 yards on 11 attempts. 

The Wildcats were stronger defensively in the second quarter, holding the Eagles to one touchdown. A/P added two more touchdowns in the third to go ahead by the final score. 

The B-T defense intercepted Eagles quarterback Blake Carlson once, but Carlson completed 5-of-7 passes for 82 yards and a 33-yard touchdown to Anders Johansen.

The loss put the Wildcats at 0-3 on the season as the team has yet to score a point. They’ll have perhaps their most difficult game of the season this week. The Wildcats head to Cochrane-Fountain City to take on the Pirates, who are ranked first in the Bound Poll. 

Next week the Wildcats return home to play Eleva-Strum, which is also winless on the season.
