County administrator picked for Chippewa Falls post

The Chippewa Falls City Council last Tuesday voted to offer its city administrator position to Trempealeau County Administrator Rebecca Glewen, though there was some uncertainty about whether she would take the job until this Tuesday.

As of Monday, Chippewa Falls Mayor Jason Hiess said he had not yet received a signed copy of the offer sent to Glewen. Trempealeau County Board of Supervisors Chairman Andy Todd said he hadn’t yet received a notice of resignation.

That changed on Tuesday morning, however, when Todd issued a statement saying Glewen had officially submitted her resignation, which will be effective in November. Her contract requires her to give the county 45 days’ written notice before leaving her position, meaning she could remain employed through the first week in November. However, the contract allows the county to relieve her of her duties prior to the expiration of the 45-day notice.

“We appreciate the administrator’s service to Trempealeau County and will work to ensure a smooth transition,” Todd said. “The county board will now focus on the process of determining the next steps for the administrator position and making sure county operations continue without interruption.”

Glewen was announced as a finalist for the Chippewa Falls post in late August and interviewed in person on Sept. 8. The offer is contingent on a background check.

Glewen did not respond to a request for comment before the Times went to press.
