Brian I. Knudtson

Brian Ingwald Knudtson passed away January 31, 2026, at the age of 70. He was born October 12, 1955, in Whitehall, WI, to Ingwald and Hannah (Allen) Knudtson.

Brian spent much of his life in Wisconsin before later relocating to Missouri where he built lasting connections and a career with the City of Leawood.

Brian had a deep appreciation for sports, the outdoors and lifelong learning. He found great peace in hunting and spending time outdoors and eventually developed a love for golf. A proud Wisconsin native, Brian was a devoted fan of the Green Bay Packers, Wisconsin Badgers and Milwaukee Brewers. He was also an avid reader who remained curious about the world around him.

Brian was first married to Jill (Holtan), with whom he shared two children, Maggie and Heath. Maggie is married to Keith and together they have two children, Simi and Kaden, who brought Brian great joy.

In December 2023, Brian married Emily Ringlien after reconnecting later in life. This new chapter was filled with excitement, as Brian looked forward to sharing retirement with a life partner. Tragically, Emily passed away. Though their time together was brief, their reunion remained a meaningful and cherished part of Brian’s story.

Brian is survived by his former wife, Jill Knudtson; his children, Heath Knudtson and Maggie Hawkins; son-in-law, Keith Hawkins; grandchildren: Simi Kaur and Kaden Hawkins; his siblings: Allen (Nancy) Knudtson, Gary (Pam) Knudtson, Raymond (Sally) Knudtson, and Elizabeth (Mike) Hestekin; and many beloved nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents and wife, Brian was preceded in death by brothers, David and Wayne Knudtson.

A celebration of life will be held to honor Brian on Friday, June 5, 2026, at Larson Park in Whitehall, WI, from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m.
