Carl J. Lee

 

Carl J. Lee, 84, of Margate, FL., and formerly of Independence, died July 7, 2020, in his home.

Carl was born October 18, 1935, in Strum, to Carl J. and Helen (Johnson) Lee. He graduated from Independence High School, Class of 1953. After a stint in the U.S. Army, Carl went on to attend UW-Eau Claire and graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree.

On September 5, 1959, Carl married Georgia Herberg of Whitehall at Our Saviour’s Lutheran Church in Whitehall. The couple moved to Fort Lauderdale, FL., in May of 1965. That area was their home until his death. There, Carl enjoyed a career in Materials Management with high-tech companies.

Carl and Georgia enjoyed numerous summer vacations “back home” in Trempealeau County. Carl’s favorite pastimes were genealogy research, fishing and golf. Carl and Georgia enjoyed many golf outings with friends to various golf resorts in Florida and North Carolina.

In addition to his wife, Carl is survived by one son, Thomas, and his wife, Julie, of Orlando, FL.; two grandchildren: Kristoffer and Kate Lee; one sister, Linnet (Gary) Johnson of Kenosha; a niece, Cheri Nelson, of Golden, CO.; a sister-in-law, Mary (Adrian) Morchinek; a niece, Sue (Mike) Kulig; John (Colleen) Morchinek; and several cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Roald, who died in infancy; and a sister, Carolyn Nelson, of Golden, CO.

After cremation, burial will occur at Lincoln Cemetery in Whitehall.
