Carol A. Bagley
Carol Anne Bagley, 97, passed away peacefully, October 6, 2023.
Carol was born August 21, 1926, to William Harrison “Harry” Stimson and Grace Allen Stimson. She grew up in Trempealeau, and graduated from Healy Memorial High School in 1943. She went to Carroll University in 1944, and graduated in 1948. Carol was awarded a scholarship to UW–Madison, where she received her Masters in Social Work in 1950, and later worked at Family and Children Center in Milwaukee.
On April 18, 1949, she married Elwyn “Al” Bagley. After being a stay at home mom for 17 years, she began working as a psychotherapist in 1968, at Family and Children Center in Mishawaka, IN. In 1976, she started working at Riverwood Community Mental Health Center in Niles, MI, while developing her private practice. At the same time, she worked at The Center For Continuing Formation In Ministry at Notre Dame University and Saint Mary’s College in South Bend, IN. She continued with her private practice when she moved to Trempealeau in 1997. In 2008, Carol began working at Logistics Inc. in La Crosse, coordinating mental health services for Veterans, until she retired in 2009, at the age of 82.
She served as a member of The Trempealeau Heritage Society, Friends of Little Bluff, the Shirley M. Wright Library Committee, and she has been a lifetime member of Trempealeau United Methodist Church.
She is survived by her five children: Anne Bagley, Patrick Bagley, Kathleen “Kit” Locke (Jack), Tim Bagley, and Daniel Bagley; seven grandchildren: Grace, John, Sarah, Ben, Madelyne, Marlena, and Jeannine; five great-grandchildren: Jordan, Savannah, Emma, Adalyn, and Kayla; two nieces: Barbara, and Deborah; and three great nieces: Jennifer, Dana and Joy; along with a host of other treasured friends and relatives.
Carol was preceded in death by her beloved husband in 2008.
She was an avid reader and enjoyed daily crossword puzzles, and her love, support, wisdom, humor, and guidance will be missed.
Memorial services will be held Sunday, October 15, 2023, at Trempealeau United Methodist Church, at 1:00 p.m., with a luncheon to follow. Visitation will be held one hour prior.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Grace Stimson memorial scholarship, Trempealeau United Methodist Church, or the Shirley M. Wright Memorial Library.
