Carol M. Benedict
Carol Marie Benedict, 88, of Taylor, died Tuesday, September 7, 2021, at Grand View Care Center in Blair.
Carol was born February 13, 1933, in Black River Falls to Emil and Millie (Borreson) Olson. She married Ellsworth Benedict, January 20, 1951, in Blair and they celebrated 50 years of marriage in 2001. Ellsworth preceded Carol in death, February 13, 2001.
Carol always had a smile on her face and the coffee pot was always ready for friends and neighbors. She loved to bake, especially her chocolate chip cookies for her children and grandchildren. She was proud her doughnuts and rosettes always sold out at the church bazaars.
She was a loving mother and grandmother and a great cheerleader while watching them play sports, especially baseball. She rarely missed a Milwaukee Brewers game on television.
Carol enjoyed traveling with Ellsworth after retiring from being the cook at Taylor High School for many years. She greatly enjoyed being with the children every day.
She was a member for many years at the Taylor Lutheran Church and of WELCA.
Carol is survived by four of her five children: Sheila (Marvin) Matejka of Blair, Greg (Kimberly) of Sarasota, FL, Scott (Chris) of Taylor and Rick (Lois) of Galesville; nine grandchildren: Todd (Lisa), Travis (Molly) and Tim (Kara) Matejka, Megan Palecek, Andrew (Hillary) Benedict, Jessica Berndt, Andy (Justina) and Heather Gautsch and Jon (LeAnn Humm) Keller; nineteen great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, husband and daughter, Carol was preceded in death by brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law: Levin (Janice), Freeman (Gladys), Vilas (Ila) and Marion Benedict and Vivian (Aymaar) Axness. Brenda Berndt preceded her in death.
Memorial services were held Monday, September 13, 2021, at 11:00 a.m., at Taylor Lutheran Church in Taylor. Pastor Natalie Leske officiated. Friends could call one hour prior to the service. Burial was at Woodlawn Cemetery in rural Taylor.
Jack Funeral Home in Blair is assisting the family with arrangements.
