Carolyn M. Nyen

 

Carolyn Madelyn Nyen, 100, of Blair, passed away Tuesday, December 30, 2025, at Pigeon Falls Health Care Center in Pigeon Falls.

Carolyn was born August 15, 1925, in La Crosse, to Christ and Tina (Lund) Christopherson. She attended Blair High School, Eau Claire Vocational School, American Tool Management and United School of Insurance.

Carolyn was a member of First Lutheran Church in Blair, serving on the council and a member of the ALCW. She organized and served as the first president of the Sons of Norway in Blair.

After school, Carolyn decided to visit a friend in Chicago, IL. She worked in a defense plant for two years. Carolyn met and married Donald Pallis in Chicago, IL, July 2, 1948. They later divorced.

Carolyn moved back to Blair and married Harvey Nyen, December 4, 1971. They lived on Harvey’s home place until his death, April 30, 2009. Carolyn later moved into Blair.

Carolyn was employed at Northern Engraving as an inspector and served as a union steward. She was also employed with two insurance agencies. Carolyn had a travel agency in Blair and also owned and operated the Blair Variety Store.

Carolyn enjoyed crafts, music, dancing and sewing. Her pets were very important to her.

Carolyn is survived by nieces, a nephew, friends and many cousins.

In addition to her parents and husband, Carolyn was preceded in death by her brothers and cousins.

Funeral services were held Tuesday, January 6, 2026, at 1:00 p.m., at Blair Lutheran Church West with burial in the Rest Haven Cemetery, both in Blair. Pastor Chris Sesvold officiated. Friends could call one hour prior to the service.

Jack Funeral Home in Blair assisted the family with arrangements.
