Charles H. Stenberg
Charles Henry Stenberg, 92, of Blair, formerly of La Crosse and Ettrick, died Saturday, August 24, 2024, at Grand View Care Center in Blair.
Charles was born February 14, 1932, in French Creek, to Carl and Helga (Volla) Stenberg.
He married Gloria Hoff, October 29, 1955. They adopted one son, Rodney (Kathy) and had a foster son, Dan (Vickie) Gove. Charles is also survived by a nephew, David Reese; three granddaughters: Lyndsey, Laci and Kolby; and six great-grandchildren, all from Mississippi.
Charles served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict. Charles and Gloria lived in Milwaukee where Charles was employed as a security guard for Allis Chalmers. They later moved to La Crosse and then to Blair before returning to La Crosse to be closer to the doctors and hospital.
Charles and Gloria came back to Blair to Grand View Assisted Living and later Grand View Care Center.
Charles loved watching television and was an avid sports fan.
Gloria preceded Charles in death, July 30, 2021.
In addition to his parents and wife, Charles was preceded in death by a brother, Hilman; a sister, Helen; and his in-laws: Clarence and Irene Hoff.
Graveside services with military rites conducted by Runnestrand-Pederson American Legion Post #354 were held Tuesday, October 8, 2024, at 1:00 p.m., at French Creek Lutheran Cemetery in rural Ettrick. Pastor Barbara Knutson officiated.
Jack Funeral Home in Blair is assisting the family with arrangements.
