Charles S. Finstad

Charles S. Finstad, 79, passed away peacefully, Tuesday, January 9, 2024, at the Pigeon Falls Nursing home in Pigeon Falls.
Charles was born October 18, 1944, in Whitehall, to Sigvart and Esther Finstad (Lewis). Charles graduated from Whitehall High School in 1962. He married Carol Finstad (Kampa), October 23, 1965, at Ss. Peter and Paul Catholic Parish in Independence.
After marrying, Charles and Carol lived on their farm in Fuller Coulee, where they farmed with their children for 22 years. After they sold the farm in 1987, they moved to Whitehall. Charles began a new endeavor as owner-operator of Finstad Trucking for 18 years, until he retired in 2007. Charles, also known as “Charlie” or “Chuck” by many, was a loved man who enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. Charles was always around to lend a helping hand or enjoy an Old Fashioned and some fun.
Charles was an avid lover of the outdoors, whether it was spending time at his cabin in northern Wisconsin, hunting, especially turkey hunting, or fishing of any kind. Charles was a devoted Wisconsin sports fan. He enjoyed watching the Packers, Badgers and Brewers games. He also loved spending time on long road trips with his wife and friends, seeing many sights across the U.S.
Charles is survived by, wife, Carol, of Whitehall, WI; daughter, Cherie (Darren) Dugan of Black River Falls; daughter, Christine Halvorsen (Jeff Leu) of Minneapolis, MN; daughter, Candace Lane of Maple Grove, MN; son, Cory (Shannon) Finstad of Waumandee, WI; grandchildren: Miranda Halvorsen, Wyatt and Austin Finstad, Whitney (Darrin) Neimi and Taylor (Hunter) Iverson; one great-grandchild, Cashton; sister, Marie Beede, of Oshkosh, WI; brother, John Finstad, of Oregon, WI; sisters-in-law: Patricia Vosburg, Janice Thoma and Janet Kampa; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents.
The family would like to extend their gratitude and special thanks to the staff at the Gundersen Lutheran Hospital in Whitehall and the Pigeon Falls Nursing Home for the wonderful care received and kindness shown to Charles.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, January 17, 2024. A visitation will begin at 10:00 a.m, with a service held at 11:00 a.m., at Peace Lutheran Church in Pigeon Falls, 13083 East Main St., Pigeon Falls, with Reverend Greg Ofsdahl officiating. Food and beverage to follow.

In lieu of flowers, a memorial may be designated to the Pigeon Creek Evangelical Lutheran Cemetery in Pigeon Falls, WI, (Peace Garden).
