David was born December 18, 1953, in Eau Claire, to Basil and Beatrice (Goplin) Olson. He was the second of three children. In 1988, David married Patti Ingli of Plum City, then later divorced. In September of 2014, Dave married Faye Andre of Arcadia, a former high school classmate. Dave and Faye were often said to be two peas in a pod.

Faye and Dave loved to travel together, whether it was a trip in the semi or by cycle. They had many fun times at Brewers games, concerts, and their most favorite adventures, included visiting their granddaughters, Aubrey and Peyton. Dave was a friend to many, often meeting new acquaintances wherever he went. He enjoyed all things Harley Davidson and Green Bay Packers and wasn’t afraid to voice his thoughts on anything political.
