David A. “Dusty” Fonstad

David Alvin “Dusty” Fonstad, 67, of rural Galesville, died Saturday, February 17, 2024, at Meadowbrook of Black River Falls.

David was born July 3, 1956, in La Crosse, to Alvin and Helen (Mickelson) Fonstad. On September 30, 1989, he married Barbara Kay Katula, in Galesville. He had been employed for many years at TRW in Galesville. Dusty enjoyed camping, NASCAR^®, the Packers, Wisconsin Badgers and country music. He especially delighted in breakfast at Garden of Eatin’ in downtown Galesville and reminiscing about the farm he knew as a child.

Survivors are his wife, Barbara of Galesville; four sons: David (Rebecca) of La Crosse, Greg (Sarah) of Osseo, Cory (Amanda) of Rochester, MN, and Brandon of Galesville; two daughters: Kari Fonstad (Lisa Horn) of St. Paul, MN, Samantha (Joe) Olson of Blair; 10 grandchildren; five sisters: Linda (Mike) Kiedrowski of Menasha, Yvonne (Wayne) Padgett of Holmen, Kathy Fonstad of Arcadia, Mary Devine of Holmen, Cheryl Fonstad of West Salem; and a brother, Eric (Kim) Fonstad of Holmen.

His parents and a brother, Dennis, preceded David in death.

Services will be held Monday, February 26, 2024, at 11:00 a.m., at Lewis Valley Lutheran Church, rural Holmen, with Pastor Emma Grinde officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

Friends may call at Zwickey Funeral Homes, Galesville Chapel, Sunday, February 25, 2024, from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., and at the church on Monday, one hour prior to service time.
