David R. Herrmann

David Rudolph Herrmann, 86, passed away Tuesday, January 14, 2025.
David was born May 13, 1938, in Arcadia, to Rudolph and Lavina (Mueller) Herrmann. He graduated from Arcadia High School in 1956, later joining the U.S. Army and served three years in California, Germany and Georgia. Upon honorable discharge in 1959, he met his wife, Diane, at Club Midway, and they were married September 1, 1962, in Gilmanton.
He lived his entire life in Arcadia. Known for his work ethic and honesty, David began work as a barber and then 35 years as an A.I. technician for Tri-State Breeders/Accelerated Genetics, where he achieved the honor of the 150,000 Cow Club. Dave was in the Arcadia Fire Department, and was a lifelong member of Christ Lutheran Church in Arcadia. Faith, family, friends and farmers were very important to him.
Dave volunteered at the Arcadia Food Pantry. He was past president of both church council and Arcadia trap club. He enjoyed his annual waterfowl hunting trips in Manitoba, North Dakota, Minnesota, Nebraska and on the Mississippi River. His other hobbies included Buffalo County deer and turkey hunting, fishing with buddies, pheasant hunting in Millston, playing euchre and cutting wood for his fireplace. Dave cheered on the Milwaukee Brewers and was a Green Bay Packers fan, owner and ‘assistant coach’. He and Diane enjoyed many trips, especially Alaska, Cape Cod, Acapulco, Bahamas, New Orleans, Florida and Arizona. Most important to him were his visits with children and grandchildren.
Survivors are his wife of 62 years, Diane (Dieckman) Herrmann; three children: Becky (Jackie Malay), Eric (Rachael) and Molly (Missy); grandchildren: Alyssa, Taylor, Anna, Marissa, Mariah, Maria, Makenna, Emerson, Maddie and Ellie; nieces: Nancy Creeley, Linda (Pat) Rebarchek and Sandra (Dennis) Pronschinske; three brothers-in-law: Jim, Jerry (Sue Birtzer) and Jack (Anne) Dieckman.
Preceding him in death were his parents; sister, Joyce; and brother-in-law, William Creeley.
There will be a visitation Saturday, February 1, 2025, from 10:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m., followed by funeral service at 12:00 p.m., at Christ Lutheran Church in Arcadia. There is no burial service at this time.
