Dawn M. Coburn

Dawn Marie Coburn, 62, of Whitehall died March 14, 2025, at her home, with loving family by her side, following a courageous 11-year battle with cancer.

Dawn was born August 15, 1962, in Whitehall, to Glen and Yvonne (Martin) Berg. She graduated from Blair High School in 1981, and attended La Crosse Beauty School, receiving a license in cosmetology. She worked as a beautician in Whitehall at Shirley’s Salon and Marge’s Salon. Dawn then worked at Northern Engraving Incorporation for 26 years, making many lifelong friends during her time there. She then worked at Royal Credit Union in Whitehall, retiring after 16 years.

Dawn married Jay Coburn, September 24, 1983, at First Lutheran Church in Blair. They celebrated 41 years of marriage.

Dawn enjoyed all things outdoors. She could often be found weeding in her flower beds and vegetable garden. She loved mowing lawn and sitting on the back patio with Jay in the evenings, listening to the Brewers games with a peaceful campfire. She loved music and never cleaned without having the stereo playing her favorites. Most recently, Dawn loved going for long ATV rides with family and friends to enjoy the fall colors. She and Jay were blessed with two children, Jacqueline and Neil, and enjoyed attending all of their events. She was active in Our Saviours Lutheran Church in Whitehall and served as church treasurer and a Sunday school teacher also. Dawn always had a smile on her face and a positive, infectious attitude to share. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her.

She is, and will always be, “What Awesome Looks Like”.

Dawn is survived by her husband, Jay; daughter, Jacqueline (Matt Maug) of Strum; her parents, Glen and Yvonne Berg of Blair; sister, Tammie (Paul) Coburn of Whitehall; sister, Diane (Scott) Hoff of Ettrick. She is further survived by her mother-in-law, Deloris Coburn of Whitehall; sisters and brothers-in-law: Chuck (Mary) Coburn of Louisiana, John Coburn of Tennessee, Linda Gunderson of Whitehall, Mary (Arne) Fremstad of De Soto; and many loving nieces and nephews.

Dawn was preceded in death by her son, Neil Andrew; niece, Kari Coburn; father-in-law, Frank Coburn; brother-in-law, Larry Gunderson; grandparents; a few loving aunts and uncles; and her faithful springer spaniel, Jackson.

A Celebration of Life will be held Saturday, April 26, 2025, from 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m., at the Town of Preston Town Hall, 1102 E. Broadway St. in Blair.

A private graveside burial with family will be held at 11:00 a.m., at Lincoln Cemetery in Whitehall, with Scott Brown officiating.
