Donald “Donnie” D. Densmore
Donald “Donnie” Duane Densmore, 79, of rural Whitehall, died Thursday, November 7, 2024, at Grand View Care Center in Blair.
Donald was born May 31, 1945, in Valley City, ND, to George and Frances (McKay) Densmore. He graduated from Whitehall High School in 1963, and soon after enlisted in the U.S. Army.
On August 22, 1980, he married Vickie Roth at Our Saviour’s Lutheran Church in Whitehall. Together, they built a life dedicated to family, hard work and tradition.
Throughout his life, Donnie worked in various roles. He was a truck driver and a logger until “the hills got too steep”, Whitehall Ag Service and Golden Plump before retiring. He and Vickie also raised steers and proudly upheld the family farm, passing on its traditions to Todd and their grandsons who will now be taking over its operations. Donnie loved four-wheeling with Vickie and their friends, bear hunting, and above all, spending time with his beloved grandchildren, checking the animals and crops. His large garden was his favorite summer hobby, growing a wide variety of produce and canning the harvest with Vickie.
Donald is survived by his wife, Vickie; two sons: Todd (Megan) and Steve (Lona); seven grandchildren: Clayton, Cody, Danika, Rylie, Savannah, Easton and Carrow; a sister, Mary (Doug) Shoults; four brothers: Keith (Roberta), Allen, Larry and Rodney (Rosemary) Densmore; two foster sisters: Lynn (Tom) Barrett and Ruth (Jerry) Keck; three foster brothers: Jim (Sue) Schansberg, Bob Strand and Ted (Cheryl) Strand; a brother-in-law, Ron Ross; and a sister-in-law, Debbie (Ken) Burtchett.
In addition to his parents, Donald was preceded in death by three brothers: Mike, Gary and Skip Andreson; a sister, Margaret (Mitzi) Ross; and two foster brothers: Jerry and Phil Schansberg.
Visitation will be held Thursday, November 21, 2024, from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m., at Jack Funeral Home in Whitehall. Burial will be in Old Whitehall Cemetery in rural Whitehall at a later date.
