Donald M. Semb

Donald “Donnie” Milfred Semb, 69, of Pigeon Falls, died Sunday, July 19, 2026, (his birthday) in his home.
Donnie was born July 19, 1957, in Whitehall, to Milfred and Marcella (Engebretson) Semb. He graduated from Whitehall High School in 1975.
Donnie had a few different jobs in his lifetime. He drove a milk truck, worked at the Pigeon Creamery, Olson Excavating, Ashley Furniture and had a mail truck route. His true calling, however, was when he got his CNA license. He was a manager of a group home and worked at the Trempealeau County Health Care Center. His longest employment was at Grand View Care Center in Blair. He was very proud of his work there and the residents and their families loved him.
Donnie was known in the area, and by many, for his witty comments, jokes and smile. He loved to visit with his neighbors outside on his front porch. He was a real people-person and loved seeing his friends and neighbors. In Donnie’s own words, “Keep smiling. Think of the things I did to make you smile and I’ll be happy.” Donnie’s memory will live on in the hearts of all who loved him.
Donnie’s best friend, Colonel, was in a sense his whole world. He was his loyal companion. He was the most spoiled dog, but Donnie wouldn’t have had it any other way. Most people in Pigeon also know Colonel as they would see them out walking. Some nursing home residents would wait by their windows hoping to catch a glimpse of them as they walked by as Donnie would wave.
Donnie is survived by a sister, Selina Moen; a niece, Michelle (Paul) Risch; two great-nephews: CJ (Kaitlin) Moen and Bryce Moen; and many other relatives and friends.
In addition to his parents, Donnie was preceded in death by a brother, Merlin Semb; a brother-in-law, Steve Moen; and a nephew, Dan Moen.
Memorial services were held Saturday, July 25, 2026, at 11:00 a.m., at Jack Funeral Home in Whitehall. Pastor Gregory Ofsdahl officiated. Burial was at Evangelical Lutheran Cemetery in Pigeon Falls. A luncheon and time of fellowship followed at Peace Lutheran of Pigeon Falls in Pigeon Falls.
Visitation was Friday, July 24, 2026, from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., at Jack Funeral Home in Whitehall and also one hour prior to the service on Saturday.
