Doris M. Hagen

 

Doris M. Hagen, 90, of rural Whitehall, died Wednesday, March 3, 2021, in her home.

Doris was born in Blair, June 28, 1930, to Edwin and Helen (Severson) Mickelson. She was baptized, confirmed and married at Zion Lutheran Church in Blair. Doris married James C. Hagen, May 26, 1951. James preceded Doris in death, March 7, 1997.

Doris worked as a nurse’s aide and farmed with her husband, James. She was active in parish education in the Lutheran Church and served on District and National boards. Doris spoke at institutes, seminars, retreats and conventions.

Doris was a prayer leader, a freelance writer and a member of the General Federation Women’s Club of America and the Christian Writers Guild. One of her greatest joys of her life was promoting prayer. Doris also enjoyed music, reading, knitting, embroidery and crocheting.

Doris survived by a son, Eric, on the Hagen Hills Farms in rural Whitehall; two nieces: Susan Liesure of Cambridge, MN, and Sheryl Mickelson of St. Louis Park, MN; a nephew, Steven Mickelson of Lakeville, MN; and several cousins.

In addition to her parents and husband, Doris was preceded in death by a brother, Hiram; and a sister-in-law, Melva.

Private services and burial will be at Pigeon Creek Evangelical Lutheran Cemetery in Pigeon Falls with Pastor Peter Jonas officiating.

Jack Funeral Home in Whitehall is assisting the family with arrangements.
