Doris M. Lawrence

Doris Mae Lawrence passed away February 9, 2022, at Dove Health Care, Osseo.

Doris was born June 2, 1933, in Shawano. She was one of five daughters born to John and Edith Lehrke. Doris graduated from Whitehall High School. After high school, she worked in Whitehall. Doris had fond memories of living in an apartment with her sister, Mavis Langton and Eleanor Suchla. Doris met Robert (Bob) Lawrence, and they were married in 1959, at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, rural Whitehall, where they were lifelong members. Doris and Bob had a small dairy farm outside of Pigeon Falls. Doris was a hard worker, an excellent baker and cook, and her faith was very important to her. She was the sweetest grandmother to her grandchildren and was very proud of them all. To this union came three children: Sally Severson (Osseo), David Lawrence (Black River Falls) and Timm Lawrence (Osseo).

Doris was fondly referred to as “the bar queen” and not for the reason you may think. She made pans of bars instead of baking cookies because the cookies were gone in two seconds. Every Christmas, Doris enjoyed hosting an annual Christmas Party for family and neighbors. She enjoyed doing all the baking and planned all the games. Doris loved attending the annual Rice Lake picnic with her family every summer. Doris embroidered many, many quilts, which she lovingly gifted to family members. She loved doing anything with her family. We will all miss her so much.

Doris is survived by her three children: Sally, David (Pam) and Timm (Cathy). She is further survived by her sister, Mavis Langton (Neillsville); her grandchildren: Antone Severson (Jenny), Nathan Severson, Katie Severson, Jakob Lawrence, Grace Lawrence and Jordan Lawrence; and many other beloved family members.

Doris was preceded in death by her husband, Robert; her parents, John and Edith Lehrke; and her sisters: Helen Hermann, Mabel Hermann and Josephine Gauthier.

Services will be held at a later date.
