Edith J. Olson

 

Edith Jeanette Olson, 81, of Strum, passed away Monday, February 15, 2021, at her home in Strum.

She was born March 26, 1939, to Edwin and Jenny (Halverson) Guenther in Arcadia. Edith was a 1958 graduate of Arcadia High School. She was united in marriage to Maynard Olson, May 21, 1960. Together, they were blessed with three children: Allen, Christina and David. Edith and Maynard loved to dance together and go camping with their family. She loved hunting and fishing. Edith was a gifted seamstress. She worked at the Marry-Go-Round in Strum and helped with the Miss Strum and Miss Osseo courts with their gowns. She also worked for the Ad-Delite newspaper in Strum working part-time with her sister, Diane. After retiring from work, Edith was able to help family and friends with alterations on a variety of clothing. She especially loved working with wedding gowns and prom dresses.

She was an active member of the VFW Auxiliary and various church groups. Edith helped with Lions Club and Steam Engine Days in Strum. She was also a part of Flying Club at the Strum Airport and a part of Ski Club and Unity Valley Home Makers. In addition, she was one of the first Den Mothers for Boy Scouts in the area.

Edith is survived by her sons: Allen, and his children, Cloe and Eric (Emily) Olson, and their daughter, Emma; and David (Erin Basel) and Erin’s children, Colten and Lorelei Still; and her siblings, Diane (Chuck) Thronson and Laurel Bollin.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Maynard; daughter, Christina; and brothers: Willmer (Joan) Guenther, Everett Guenther and Clifford Guenther.

Memorial Services were held Friday, February 19, 2021, 11:00 a.m., at Immanuel Lutheran Church, 109 Elm Street in Strum. Pastor Valerian Ahles officiated. Burial followed at West Beef River Lutheran Cemetery. Family and friends were invited for a casual visitation Thursday, February 18, 2021, from 4:00 p.m until 6:00 p.m., at Schiefelbein Funeral Home in Osseo; P: 715-597-3711.
