Edward “Ed” J. Smick

Edward “Ed” J. Smick, 71, of Independence, passed away peacefully, Tuesday, September 2, 2025.

Edward was born December 19, 1953, to Walter and Eleanore (Maule) Smick. Ed graduated from Independence High School and went to work for the Green Bay & Western Railroad. After retiring, Ed enjoyed working in his strawberry patch and garden. All his friends and neighbors reaped the benefits of his gardening skills. Ed also enjoyed word search and crossword puzzles. He was an awesome Uncle Eddie to his nieces and nephews.

Edward is survived by his sisters: Marilyn (Al) Pelowski, Ann (Jerry) Grossman, Ellen (Larry) Drangstveit; and brother, John (Joannie) Smick.

Edward was preceded in death by his parents, Walter and Eleanore; brother, James; sister, Patricia; and sister-in-law, Nancy.

Edward will be remembered for all his laughter and willingness to help everyone.

Committal service and burial will be held Saturday, September 13, 2025, at 3:30 p.m., at Ss. Peter and Paul Cemetery. A Celebration of Life will be held from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., at East End, following the service.
