Eric A. Windjue

Eric Arne Windjue, 70, of Whitehall, passed away at Gundersen Health System in La Crosse, Tuesday, January 11, 2022.
Eric was born November 30, 1951, in Whitehall, to Alvin and Jeannette (Johnson) Windjue. He was baptized and confirmed at Our Saviour’s Lutheran Church in Whitehall. Eric graduated from Whitehall High School with the Class of 1970, and attended Western Wisconsin Technical College in La Crosse.
Eric retired in 2019, after 20 years at Whitehall-Specialties, Ltd., in Whitehall. Eric was a member of the Whitehall Volunteer Fire Department for many years and enjoyed golfing, hunting, fishing and was a big fan of both the Packers and Brewers. He especially enjoyed fishing trips and time spent with his friends in northern Minnesota at Brickner’s cabin.Eric was a good cook and collected hundreds of recipe books. He often cooked at the Whitehall-Pigeon Rod & Gun Club fishing contests as well as for Beef & Dairy Days and other events.
Eric is survived by his brothers: John (Linda) Windjue, Paul (Jeanine) Windjue, Jim Windjue, Robert (Theresa) Windjue and Tom (Charlotte) Windjue; his sisters: Ellen (Russell) Koxlien, Jane (Randy) Olson, Martha (Steve) Fremstad and Sarah (Layne) Anderson. Eric was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Mary Jane Windjue; and a brother, Mark Windjue.
A graveside service was held Monday, January 17, 2022, at 1:00 p.m., at Lincoln Cemetery in Whitehall. Pastor Peter Jonas officiated.
Due to current COVID-19 restrictions, a Celebration of Life for Eric will be held at a later date.
Jack Funeral Home in Whitehall is assisting the family with arrangements.
