Frances “Fran” K. Borreson

Frances “Fran” Kaye Borreson, 68, of rural Whitehall, died Wednesday, May 18, 2022, at Pigeon Falls Health Care Center in Pigeon Falls, with her loving husband at her side as always.

Fran was born January 10, 1954, in Chicago, IL, to Walter and Rosella (Dlask) Kudron. Fran graduated from Alvernia High School in Chicago in 1972. One of Fran’s first jobs was working at a spring factory in Elk Grove Village, IL. The highlight of this was getting to ride with her dad back and forth to work. She treasured that special time with him. Although she was very close to both of her parents, her dad held a special place in her heart.

Fran’s family moved to the Whitehall area after her father’s death. She started working at Club 95 where she met and eventually married the love of her life, David L. Borreson, September 15, 1979, at Our Saviour’s Lutheran Church in Whitehall. There are no words to express the beauty of the relationship that Dave and Fran had on earth. They were like a reliable, hard-working machine, always anticipating the thoughts and needs of each other. They were always there for each other, in both  the good moments and the difficult ones, neither ever willing to give up on the other. Their dedication to each other allowed Fran to remain in her home for the majority of her illness.

Fran was always wonderful with children and worked in a daycare center for many years, preferring her time with the little babies. She was a ‘baby whisperer’ and could always coerce the fussiest infant to sleep. Fran also worked at Clippers IGA for many years where she developed many treasured friendships.

Fran found beauty in nature. She loved flowers, butterflies, and birds, especially Indigo Buntings. She enjoyed reading and keeping her brain active with crossword puzzles and games on her Kindle. She enjoyed watching Jeopardy and Wheel of Fortune. Most recently, she enjoyed winning at Bingo and watching Judge Judy. She loved time with her grandchildren.

Fran was an observer and a listener. People were drawn to her because of her kindness, honesty, and quick wit. She made everyone who knew her feel valued and listened to. She formed special relationships with each of the people in her life. Her family was especially important to her. She would do anything for her family. She was always looking out for the underdog.

Fran was a woman full of unbelievable strength. Throughout her life, as her body continued to fail her, she always kept fighting to be there for her family the best way that she could be. So many times the doctors would say that the end was near, but Fran was the only one who would decide that.

The family would like to extend a special note of appreciation to the home care workers of St.Croix Hospice and the staff at Pigeon Falls Health Care Center, who befriended and supported Fran and Dave along their journey. The care you provided was above and beyond your job description, and it made all the difference.

Fran is survived by her husband, David; two sons: Travis (Jessica) Borreson of Chippewa Falls and Wesston (Katharine) Borreson of Fall Creek; four grandchildren: Jase, Grayson, Claire and Camryn; three sisters: Dawn (David) Kaufman of Fairchild, Wendy Fitzmaurice of Humbird and Dorie (Jim) Koumos of Liberty Kentucky; a brother, Andrew (Amanda) Kudron of Sparta; and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents and stepfather, Raymond, Fran was preceded in death by a sister, Rosie Bullock; and her brother-in-law, Danny Fitzmaurice.

Jack Funeral Home in Whitehall is assisting the family with arrangements. Memorial services were held Tuesday, May 24, 2022, at 11:00 a.m., at Jack Funeral Home in Whitehall. Friends could call one hour prior to the service. Pastor Peter Jonas will officiate.
