Gerald “Jerry” E. Thomas

 

Gerald “Jerry” Edward Thomas, 77, of Arcadia, passed away peacefully, February 11, 2022, at Baywood Medical in Mesa, Arizona.

Jerry was born March 29, 1944, to Edward and Evangeline (Meyers) in Arcadia. He was born and raised on a farm with his two surviving siblings: Janet Bremer and John Thomas, both of Arcadia, and attended Arcadia High School, graduating in 1962. Jerry married Mary Jane Slaby of Arcadia, August 1, 1964, at St. Stanislaus Parish in Arcadia. They started farming and raising their family on a dairy farm in Glencoe township, now owned and operated by his eldest son, Greg Thomas. Jerry also worked for Wilber Lime and as an independent trucker, primarily hauling cattle for local stockyards and farmers. In early 2000, they settled as part-time residents in Mesa, AZ, and both took on being prison guards before full retirement, where they vacationed in the summers near Hayward, WI.

Jerry is survived by his wife, Mary; and his five children: Greg of Arcadia, Gary (Amy), Johnston of IA, Margo (Scott) Doenier of Waumandee, Marci Thomas of Charlotte, NC, and Gerald Jr. “Butch” (Kari) of Milwaukee. He has 10 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren: Morgan, Danielle, Jenna (Greg), Emily, Erica, Carly (Gary), Briana (Bennett, Sophia and Grace) Olson, Brandon, Ciara, Brook (Margo).
