Gerald “Jerry” W. Everson

Gerald “Jerry” Wayne Everson, 79 of Mondovi, passed away peacefully, Wednesday, October 18, 2023, in the comfort of his own home, surrounded by his beloved wife and family. He fought a courageous battle of asbestos cancer.

Jerry was born May 27, 1944, in Whitehall, the son of the late Elmer and Evelyn (Johnson) Everson. Gerald attended Blair Schools, graduating from Blair High School with the Class of 1962.

On April 18, 1964, Gerald was united in marriage to Rosemary Hovey at Our Saviour’s Lutheran Church in Whitehall. To this beloved union, three children were born.

Jerry worked at WBI Mill in Blair from 1962 until 1970 when he and his wife, Rosemary, relocated to Mondovi where he accepted a position and started a successful career at the Mondovi Coop Mill in Mondovi, which at the time of his retirement in 2011, was known to many as Countryside Co-op.

Jerry was also part owner of the 4-E Christmas tree farm, as well as the Alma Townhouse where he met several loyal customers.

He was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting and fishing or being on the family farm near Blair or on his two sons’ farms near Mondovi. The hunting and fishing memories that Jerry has left will be in the hearts of his family for generations.

Jerry was so proud of his grandchildren and would support them in any way possible. They were quite honestly his pride and joy. If there was a sporting event, a school activity that involved his grandchildren, chances are, you would find him there. He was a wonderful husband, dad, grandpa, friend and godparent.

Jerry will be sadly and forever missed by his wife, Rosemary (Rosy) of 59 years, (Mondovi); children: Jacquelyn (Paul) Lindberg of Superior, Kevin (Amy M.) Everson of Mondovi and Brent (Amy R.) Everson of Modena; 11 grandchildren, Jacob (fiancée Tali) Lindberg, Olivia (Zach) Brookmole, Jonathan (Rachal) Lindberg, Alyssa (Bradley) Everson, Kaitlyn (Jacob) Biesterveld, Abbey Everson, Karley (Preston) Everson, Drew, Emmy, Paige, Madelyn Everson; three great-grandchildren: Scarlett, Harrison and Clara Jo Brookmole; brothers: Truman Everson of Ettrick and Wallace Everson of Hixton; sister-in-law, Rose Everson of Blair; godchildren: Terry, Susie and Hannah; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Besides his parents, Jerry was preceded in death by his brothers: Earl, Alfred and Elmer, Jr. Everson; and sisters-in-law: Elsie, Irene, Gloria, and Jean Everson; also, sisters-in-law: Marjorie Martenson, Joyce Weiss, Jean Hovey, and Joanne Hovey; brothers-in-law: William Martenson, Felix Weiss, Donald, Lou and Jerome Hovey.

A memorial service for Jerry will be held Sunday, October 29, 2023, at 3:00 p.m., at Central Lutheran Church in Mondovi. Interment will follow at Riverside Lutheran Cemetery in Mondovi. A memorial gathering will be held Saturday, October 28, 2023, from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., at Talbot Family Funeral Home, Mondovi Chapel, and on Sunday at the church, from 2:00 p.m. until the hour of the service.

The family would like to take this opportunity to send a heartfelt thank you to Jerry’s family and friends, especially the grandchildren, the friends at the Modena Garage, his Minnesota buddies, as well as Mayo Home Health and Hospice, and the Mayo Oncology Dept. for the exceptional and loving care given to him.
