Helen B. (Christianson) Berg

Helen Bernice (Christianson) Berg, 102, of Arcadia, died peacefully, January 27, 2024, at Gundersen Health Center in La Crosse, with family at her side.
Helen was born in Blair, December 22, 1921, to Olaf and Eda (Sorlie) Christianson. She lived her entire life in rural Blair and the City of Arcadia. Helen was raised on a farm in Lakes Coulee where she attended country school during her elementary years. In 1945, she became engaged to the love of her life, Eldon Waldemar Berg, whom she married on June 14, 1947. They celebrated their 75th wedding anniversary in 2022.
Helen was a stay-at-home mother, raising a family and helping Eldon with his business endeavors. She loved to host friends and family gatherings and celebrations, and she was an amazing cook and wonderful baker of Norwegian delicacies.
Helen enjoyed many activities during her lifetime, including road trip vacations throughout the U.S. and Canada with her family, riding with Eldon on motorcycles, boating on the Mississippi River, and playing games with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Helen was a faithful and active member of two churches, helping out in a variety of capacities. From 1921 to 1968, she was a member of Fagernes Lutheran Church in rural Blair, where she taught Sunday school classes for over 20 years. From 1968, she was a member of Christ Lutheran Church in Arcadia.
The family gives special thanks to Sherry Reck-Haines for her wonderful care of Helen over the last six years. Her care allowed Helen to live independently in her Arcadia home.
