Helen J. Vold

Helen J. Vold, 87, passed away peacefully, Monday, January 15, 2024, at Pigeon Falls Health Care Center in Pigeon Falls.

Helen was born August 17, 1936, in Whitehall, to Marcus and Anna (Engen) Arneson. Helen married Vernon Vold, June 22, 1958, at Our Saviour’s Lutheran Church in Whitehall. Vern and Helen settled in Whitehall where Helen worked in various roles, including nurse’s aide at the Whitehall Hospital, the Whitehall Bakery, Montgomery Ward and the bakery at Clipper’s IGA.

Helen had a gift of gab, striking up a conversation with anyone anywhere – whether strangers, family or friends. She and Vern enjoyed their casino trips, hunting, fishing and fun times with family and friends. Helen had a great love for all pets, always taking strays in, treating them all as people and having conversations with them. She enjoyed any new adventure and Sunday drives looking for wildlife. We will miss her spicy wit and unique, fun sense of humor.

Helen is survived by her husband, Vernon, of Osseo; a son, Randy (Dawn) Vold of Osseo; a grandson, Euriah (Sarah) Vold of New Auburn; a granddaughter, Kristin (Chris) Boettcher of Osseo; three great-grandsons: Jace, Henli and Charlie Boettcher; and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, Helen was preceded in death by four brothers: Vern, Floyd, Lloyd and Roy Arneson; and two sisters: Mardelle (Alfred) Peterson, and Amy (George) Herman.

The family wishes to thank the staff of Pigeon Falls Health Care Center and St. Croix Hospice for their loving care and support.

A Celebration of Life and burial will be held at a later date.
