Holden C. Hovell

Holden Clyde Hovell, 24, of Galesville, died in a motor vehicle accident, March 31, 2022.

Holden was born in La Crosse, October 6, 1997, to Stanley and Kristie (Bechtold) Hovell. Holden graduated Cox High School in Virginia Beach, VA, in 2015. In 2008, he welcomed his new stepmother, Lori, to the family. Following high school, he worked for Tidewater Pool Supplies, quickly earning a reputation as a hardworking and personable man who always delivered what the customer wanted, receiving high praise from customers on his honesty and dedication to service. These virtues would serve him well as he traveled the country, working in the food industry, tool & die, moving company and finally, automobile servicing. His quick wit and charming smile earned him many friends and created strong bonds with all his customers.

Born into the life of a “Navy Brat”, he lived in Florida, Cuba, Virginia and back to his home state of Wisconsin. As an adult on his own, he lived in Virginia, Washington, North Carolina and finally, back to God’s Country, staying at his Aunt Tari’s house in Galesville. While beginning his new chapter on life, he reveled in the joy of restoring an ‘82 Oldsmobile Cutlass Supreme and tricking out his Harley Davidson Sportster.

The eternal dreamer, Holden always had lavish plans for the future, and he worked tirelessly to reach his goals. His last goals were to buy a keyboard and start to work on his music for the lyrics he had been writing since high school. He and some friends were planning to soundproof a room and create a recording studio. He also had plans to attend a truck driving school in Rochester to continue his nomadic lifestyle traveling the country and spreading his warmth and kindness abroad.

Holden is survived by: Stanley Hovell (father); Lori Hovell (stepmother); Kristie Novak (mother); Maxwell Hovell (brother); Greyson Hovell (brother); John and Joanne Bechtold (grandparents); Steve and Linda Burnett (step-grandparents); Tari Wood (aunt); and Lu Ebersold (aunt); Ted (Darlene) Bechtold (uncle); and Jeff Bechtold (uncle).
