Irene M. (Robinson) Franson

 

Irene Margaret (Robinson) Franson, 95, of Whitehall, passed away peacefully, Monday, May 1, 2023, at Pigeon Falls Health Care Center, where she had resided for the past two years.

Irene was born August 11, 1927, to Walter and Annie (Pawelke) Robinson of Strum. She was the oldest of seven children. On November 2, 1946, Irene married Alvin Franson of Strum. Together, they worked the family farm until retiring in 1977, when they moved to Whitehall. Six children were born to Irene and Alvin.

Irene was a wonderful wife and beloved mother, grandmother and great­ grandmother. She deeply loved and was very proud of her family. Irene was loved by many, was a good listener and enjoyed meeting people, who were drawn to her positive and cheerful personality.

Irene was fondly known as “Grandma Green”. A name she acquired after one of the grandchildren could not pronounce Irene, and it stuck! She loved sewing, quilting, fishing, gardening, and baking. She also loved to travel, touring nationwide and many wonderful trips abroad.

Irene is survived by two sons: Paul (Bette) of Winter and John (Vicki) of Eau Claire; two daughters: Mary (Brad) Olson and Peggy (Kirth) Pronschinske, both of Whitehall; 12 grandchildren: Bryan (Anna) Franson of Osseo, Jessica (Jordan Ouellette) Pintaro of Blair, Kristi (Derek) Bell of Pigeon Falls, Jamie (Dale Tormondsen) Bright of Silver Bay, MN, Lyndsey Thoma of Oshkosh, Christopher Blake of Farmington MN, Sarah (Kelly) Kaufman of Pigeon Falls, Staci (Jack Doroff) Pronschinske of Eau Claire, Katie (Zach Zettler) Pronschinske of Eau Claire, Aaron (Selina Rodriguez) of Altoona, Nicole and Cade Franson of Eau Claire, Brittany (Matt) Franson, Mackenzie (Eric) Mueller, Brooklynn (McAdam Kensmoe) Olson and Zane Olson; great-grandchildren: Madeleine, Britta, Soren, Eloise, Leif, Olaf, Odin, Nolan, Juliana, Gabriel, Tavi, Jimmy, Jace, JJ, Grayson, Harper, Rylee, Brinley, Kyla, Amari, Paisli, Kaydence, Mesada, Jocelyn, Mason, Brayden, Beckett, Aubrie and Kayden; a brother, Leonard Robinson; a sister, Janice (David) Erickson; many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

Irene was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Alvin; an infant son; a son, Daniel; a granddaughter, Ella; two sisters: Ruth Hasart and Doris Fletschock; two brothers: Warren and Gordon Robinson; as well as numerous brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law.

A Celebration of Life was held Saturday May 6, 2023, at 11:00 a.m., at Grace Lutheran Church of Pleasantville. Mr. Scott Brown officiated. Friends could call two hours prior to the service.

Irene’s family would like to thank Pigeon Falls Health Care Center for the loving care provided to Irene during her stay there and Jack Funeral Home for assisting the family with arrangements.
