Irene T. Helgeson
Irene T. Helgeson, 94, of Independence, passed away December 17, 2023, at Our House Senior Memory Care in Eau Claire.
Irene was born October 22, 1929, to John and Emma (Susa) Bautch. Irene married the love of her life, Virgil Helgeson, at Ss. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, October 4, 1952. Together they had three boys: Daniel, Gary and Virgil Jr. Irene was a member of Ss. Peter and Paul Catholic Church.
Irene will be missed by her sons: Gary (Chris) and Virgil; seven grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Virgil; infant son, Daniel; parents; and all of her beloved siblings.
The family would like to thank the amazing staff at Our House for all the love and care they provided, Irene’s Moments Hospice team, and last, but not least, her nurse, Abby. Abby was so kind and compassionate, and gave up so much of her time to make sure “Gma” had everything she needed. She is truly an angel.
As Gma would say, “wear your seatbelt, watch your speed, don’t pass any big trucks, and watch out for the other guy!”
A Mass of Christian Burial was held Friday, December 22, 2023, at 11:00 a.m., at Ss. Peter and Paul Catholic Church. Father George Thayilkuzhitottu officiated. Family and friends were welcomed for visitation beginning at 9:30 a.m. until the time of service at church. Burial was in the church cemetery.
