Jean I. Scow

 

Jean Isabel Scow, 98, of Whitehall, died Thursday, April 23, 2020, at Gundersen Tri-County Care Center in Whitehall.

Jean was born October 31, 1921, in Fountain City, to Norman and Maude (Huber) Fetting. She married Maurice Scow, February 6, 1946, in Arcadia. Jean and Maurice moved to Whitehall in 1957. Maurice preceded Jean in death, July 29, 1997.

Jean worked at Gamoke’s Oil Station in Arcadia, drove school bus for the Abner Thompson Bus Company and was in the housekeeping department for Tri-County Memorial Hospital in Whitehall.

Jean enjoyed bowling on the Tri-County Memorial Hospital bowling team and camping and fishing in Chetek. She was an excellent seamstress and made look-a-like dresses for her three daughters. Jean also made many prom dresses and wedding dresses.

Jean was a member of Our Saviour’s Lutheran Church in Whitehall and joined the church ladies for quilting after she retired.

Jean is survived by four children: Robert (Mary) Scow of Alma, Georgia (Owen) Brekke of Blair, Barbara (Bruce) Kostner of Arcadia and Marsha DiRienzo of Kremmling, CO; eight grandchildren: Tom (Annette) Brekke, Todd (Trisha) Brekke, Wendy (Rodger) Herman, Molly (Ed) Brown, Justin (Jesse) Kostner, Andrew (Debbie) DiRienzo, David (Lori) DiRienzo and Sarah (Jose) DiRienzo; eleven great-grandchildren: Connor and Chase Brekke, Nathan Nandory, Joseph, Audrey and Madeline Brown, Riley Herman, Mia and Lucas DiRienzo, Lillian and Claire Kostner; a sister, Norma Zastrow of Rochester, MN.; and a brother, Donald Fetting of Arcadia.

In addition to her parents and husband, Jean was preceded in death by a great-grandson, Derek Brekke.

Funeral services will be held at a later date and will be announced when they are scheduled.

Jack Funeral Home in Whitehall is assisting the family with arrangements.
