Jeanette V. K. Turk

 

Jeanette Verna King Turk, 88, of Blair, passed into the arms of her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, Saturday, May 29, 2021, at Grand View Care Center in Blair.

Jeanette was born August 18, 1932, in Dodgeville, to William and Karine (Walstead) King. She married Howard Russell Turk, October 13, 1951, at Norfolk Naval Air Station Chapel in Norfolk, VA. They would have celebrated 70 years of marriage this year.

Jeanette and Howard were both involved in the banking industry. They met while working at the Bank of Madison (in Madison). After Howard’s four years in the U.S. Navy in Norfolk, VA, Jeanette returned to work at the Bank of Madison. Jeanette and Howard moved to Blair in 1963, and managed the Union Bank of Blair until their retirement in 1995.

Jeanette was an outdoors woman. She cherished her time in her gardens, loved to play golf and watch & feed the birds. Jeanette actively served the Blair community through numerous clubs and church organizations. She loved her Lord Jesus and served Him faithfully at Zion Lutheran Church.

Jeanette is survived by her husband, Howard Turk; and children: Rod Turk of Burke, VA, Kathy (Daryle) Smith of Scurry, TX, and Russ (Linnie) Turk of Fort Atkinson. She is also survived by her sisters: Inez Ravell of Richardson, TX; Anita Hubanks of Madison; and Loretta (Bob) Sipple of Lake Jackson, TX. She is further survived by seven grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren: Kyle (Colby) Smith – Kyler, Kynlee and Colbyn; Andrew (Thais) Turk – Cecilia and Benjamin; Jonathan (Katherine) Turk; Kody (Brittani) Smith – Austin; Aaron (Noel) Turk; Elijah (Hannah) Turk – Ashlyn and James Elias; and Chelsey Turk. Jeanette’s love of God and Christ served as a beacon of light for her entire family.

In addition to her parents, Jeanette was preceded in death by a sister, Vivian Burr; and a daughter-in-law, Patricia (Rod) Stevens Turk.

Memorial services will be held Saturday, June 26, 2021, at 11:00 a.m., at Blair Lutheran Church West in Blair. Burial will be at Boscobel Cemetery in Boscobel at a later date.

Visitation will be Friday, June 25, 2021, from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m., at Jack Funeral Home in Blair and also one hour prior to the service at the church on Saturday.
