Jeffery B. Bawek

Jeffery Brian Bawek, 62, of Arcadia, passed away Sunday, May 3, 2020, at his home, surrounded by his family.

Jeff was born in Staceyville, IA., November 22, 1957, to Glen and Emmalene (Nelson) Bawek. His family moved to Arcadia and Jeff graduated from Arcadia High School. After graduating with the class of 1976, Jeff received an Associate’s Degree in Mechanics. He worked briefly with Ashley Furniture and then was employed for Reglin & Hesch. Jeff also farmed for many years and loved being a farmer, planting trees, maintaining the soil and conserving the land.

Jeff was united in marriage to Carol Jean Soppa, September 29, 1977, at St. Stanislaus Catholic Church in Arcadia. He was involved for many years as an Advancement Leader with the Boy Scouts of America, was a member of the building committee for the first Holy Family School and served with the Trempealeau County Land Management Committee. He received a soil conservation award in 1999, and later that year, was named 2nd in the state of Wisconsin. Jeff enjoyed archery, the beauty of nature and the views around Arcadia.

Jeff is survived by his wife of 40 years, Carol of Arcadia; son, Dr. Tony (Dr. Jessie) Bawek of Pine Creek; grandson, Jax Jameson Bawek; mother, Emmalene Nelson of Galesville; father, Glen Bawek of Arcadia; sisters: Margo (Dr. Scott) Bautch of Wausau and Rebecca (Ted) Ankrum of Andover, MN.; brothers: Craig (Lynelle) of Arcadia, Bradley (Lori) of Lake Elmo, MN., and David (Dena) of Spring Valley; step-siblings: Marcus (Debbie) Haines, Marge (Tom) Patzner, Barb (David) Kissinger, Marie (Tom) Pronschinske, Virg (Scott) Gamroth, Marsha (Norman) Benson, Charlotte (Al) Semling and Kathy (Pete) Schank; Godchildren: Kaleah Bautch, Corrine Gore, Nick Bremer, Cole Bawek, Ava Bawek; and many nieces, nephews, and friends.

He was preceded in death by his brother, Justin; step-mother, Clarice Soppa Bawek; step-brother, Francis Haines; and step-sister, Pat (Jack) Falkerson.

In observance of the CDC guidelines due to the
COVID-19 pandemic, a private Mass of Christian Burial was held at Holy Family Parish in Arcadia. Father Kyle Laylan officiated. Family and friends were welcomed for limited visitation Thursday, May 7, 2020, from 9:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m., at Wozney-Killian Funeral Home, Arcadia. It was requested that those at high risk to please stay home and be safe. Burial was at St. Stanislaus Catholic Cemetery in Arcadia. Jeff’s family would like to extend a special thank you to Fathers Sebastian Kolodziejczyk and Kyle Laylan for their care and spiritual guidance. Jeff fought a hard fight with cancer on his own terms, and here’s to hoping that Heaven looks a lot like Arcadia. Jesus, I Trust in You.
