Jerome “Jerry” C. Anderson

 

Jerome “Jerry” Clayton Anderson, 82, of Blair, passed away peacefully with family at his side, Thursday, September 28, 2023, at the Gundersen Tri-County Hospital in Whitehall. He was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer in March and was able to enjoy time with his family and friends, while under the loving care of the Gundersen Hospice team and later on Tri-County Hospital staff, until his passing.

Jerome was born in Whitehall, March 4, 1941, to Theodore and Olida (Brekke) Anderson of rural Blair. He attended Sunnyside Country School in Tappen Coulee before attending Blair High School where he graduated in 1959. He then attended UW–Madison, majoring in Agriculture.

Jerome married Belinda Rae Skaugh of rural Blair, August 24, 1968, at Trempealeau Valley Lutheran Church in rural Taylor. He served in the Wisconsin Army National Guard for six years during this period. After receiving his college degree in 1970, the couple moved back to the Blair area from Madison. Jerry was employed for 10 years with the Wisconsin Farm Business Association of Wausau. In 1980, he began his own farm tax consulting and accounting service, Jerry Anderson and Associates, Inc., serving several counties in Western Wisconsin until his retirement.

Jerome served as President of the Wisconsin Chapter of the American Society of Farm Managers and Rural Appraisers. He wrote articles for Hoard’s Dairyman and was featured with clients in a Successful Farming Magazine article. Jerome earned his private pilot license in the early 1980s and enjoyed flying with family and friends in his plane over the hills and valleys of the Coulee Region. He also enjoyed traveling and spending time at his cabin.

Jerome is survived by his wife, Belinda; two sons: Mark (Willow) Anderson of Menomonie and Dr. Scott (Anna) Anderson of Madison; six grandchildren: Samuel and Gavin Anderson of Menomonie and Henry, Elsie, Truman and Lilah Anderson of Madison; a brother, Donald (Gerda) Anderson of Ettrick; a sister-in-law, Donna Skaugh of Blair; a brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Eldon (Beverly) Quarne of Blair; a niece, Kristen Brantner, and her children: Spencer and Fletcher of Eau Claire; three nephews: John (Jessica) Anderson and their children: Lauren, Jack and Luke of Alma Center, Kevin (Kelley) Quarne and their children: Jakob, Nicholas and Alaina of Roberts and Brian (Nicole) Quarne and their children: Nolan, Sydney and Luke of Marshfield. 

He was preceded in death by his parents; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Ingeman and Gladys Skaugh; a sister-in-law, Sally Anderson; and a brother-in-law, Marvin Skaugh.

Memorial services will be held Monday, October 9, 2023, at 11:00 a.m., at Trempealeau Valley Lutheran Church, with burial in the church cemetery, both in rural Taylor. Pastor Natalie Leske will officiate.

Visitation will be Sunday, October 8, 2023, from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m., at Jack Funeral Home in Blair and also one hour prior to the service at the church on Monday.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be designated to the Trempealeau Valley Cemetery Association, Blair-Preston Volunteer Fire Department or University of Wisconsin Carbone Cancer Center.
