John C. McKeeth Jr.

 

John Clement McKeeth Jr., 95, of Galesville, passed away Wednesday, April 3, 2024, at Gundersen Medical Center in La Crosse.

John was born August 17, 1928, in Galesville, to John and Cora (Roseland) McKeeth. John married Audrey (Larson), August 25, 1951, in a candlelit church ceremony at United Lutheran Church in Pigeon Falls.

John started working at McKeeth Dairy at a very young age, washing bottles and cleaning up. At the age of nine, he went on the milk route with his uncle, Miles, and by the age of 13, he was driving his own milk route. During his career, John experienced many changes in dairy production, refrigeration and distribution. After retiring in 1990, he continued working for a local hardware store and at Ecker’s Apple Farm alongside Audrey, making apple pies and caramel.

John mostly loved bragging about his 23 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren whom he was immensely proud of. He had a lifetime of memories and shared many stories of his musky fishing, hunting, and curling.

John is survived by his wife, Audrey of 72 years; children and their families: David (Debe) McKeeth, children, Nathan, Sam (Jody), Hannah (Pete), Aaron (April) with children Deliliah, Archer, and Temperance, and Kaitlin (Adam); John (Candi) McKeeth, children Zach (Amanda), Dane (Steph); Jeff McKeeth’s daughter, Melanie (John) with children, Sawyer and Lylah; Mary (Dave) Hanson, children, Teah (Matthew), Kari (Jon) with daughter, Emma, and Emily (Pablo); Martha McKeeth; Ted (Kris) McKeeth, children, Kyle, Kameron (Emily), and Chandler (Kayla); Heidi McKeeth, children, Maria (Ryan), and Garrett (Alyson); Pete (Cheryl) McKeeth, children, Kayla (Nic), Brittany (Kolton) with daughter Lakyn, and Josh (Kayla) with son Ridge; Amy (Jeff) Lien, children, Amanda (Trevor) with son, Myles, Lyle, Anna (Ryan).

John was preceded in death by his parents, John and Cora (Roseland) McKeeth; in-laws: Oscar and Helga Larson; his sons: Jeff McKeeth, Kevin McKeeth; and his grandson, Conner McKeeth; along with other close family members and friends.

A celebration of John’s life will be held Tuesday, April 16, 2024, from 3:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m., at Dickinson Family Funeral Home, 515 McHugh Rd., Holmen. John will be interred at Pine Cliff Cemetery in Galesville. Please visit www.dickinsonfuneralhomes.com to share online condolences.
