John J. Huss

John J. Huss, 72, of North Bend, NE, passed away Saturday, July 8, 2023, at Methodist Fremont Health.

John was born May 21, 1951, in Grundy Center, IA, to Bruce C. and Helen “Sunny” (Buchanan) Huss. John lived in Grundy Center until 1957, and then moved to Mendota, IL. John graduated from Onarga Military School in Onarga in 1968. He attended Kishwaukee Jr. College and Graduated from Northern Illinois University in Dekalb, IL, with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Music. John lived in Pleasantville, WI, from 1976–1982; Bangor, ME, from 1982–1985; Fluvanna County, VA, from 1985–1987; Pigeon Falls, WI, from 1987–1997; Oakland, NE, from 1997–2007; West Point, NE, from 2007–2009; and moved to North Bend in 2009. John married Kathy Sorensen, May 24, 2009, at North Bend. He taught music and was a leader of the Midland University Jazz Band.

John is survived by his wife, Kathy, of North Bend; stepson, Adam (Kari) Hittle of West Point, NE; stepdaughter, Chrissy (Andy) Kamm of Genoa, NE; brother, Mark (Shelley) Huss of Ruther Glen, VA; sisters: Jan (Don) Behringer of Pigeon Falls, WI, and Candy Buchanan of Independence, WI; and four grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

The family will have a Celebration of Life service later this fall when his Midland students return from summer break.
