John L. Larson

John LeRoy Larson, 76, of rural Ettrick, went to be with our Heavenly Father, Wednesday, July 10, 2024.

John was born October 13, 1947 in La Crosse, to Winfred and Helen (Joten) Larson. He married Tracy Boudreau, June 18, 1988, in Waupaca.

John loved baseball, reminiscing with friends, telling stories, watching westerns, reading books and riding his UTV with his beloved dog, Warus. Spending time with Tracy on the family farm and attending mass at St. Ansgar’s and St. Bridget’s were the moments that brought him the most joy. John graduated from Blair High School and went on to UW-River Falls to receive his Bachelors degree in 1969. He taught science and agricultural education classes for fifteen years in the Fall River, Black River Falls, Weyauwega, Bowler and Arcadia school districts. After teaching, he returned to the family farm and became a favorite bus driver for many children in the area. As a farmer, most of his life he was spent as a passionate conservationist, intent on preserving his land for future generations.

John is survived by his wife, Tracy; sons: Mark and Matt (Jingwen) Larson; grandchildren: Brody, Leander and Leopaul Larson; and brother, Paul (Sandra) Larson.

In addition to his parents, John was preceded in death by his daughter, Marcea; sister, Rosemary Zimmerman; and several aunts and uncles.

A Mass of Christian burial will be held Friday, July 19, 2024, at 11:00 a.m., at St. Ansgar’s Catholic Church in Blair. Burial will be at St. Bridget’s Catholic Cemetery in rural Ettrick.

A rosary will be recited Friday, July 19, 2024, at 8:45 a.m., at St. Ansgar’s Catholic Church in Blair, followed by a visitation until the time of service.
