Joseph “Deek” Prokop, 65, of Independence, died Friday, June 27, 2025, at Gundersen Health Center in La Crosse.
Deek was born October 29, 1959, in Whitehall, to Aloizy and Angeline (Sonsalla) Prokop. Deek’s lifelong dream was to be a farmer. This was his biggest accomplishment up until the day he died.
Deek is survived by his best dog, Charlie; sisters: Elizabeth Leach of St. Paul, MN, and Mary (Doug) Klimek of Independence; brothers: John and Mike (Michelean) Prokop of Independence; one sister-in-law, Pat Prokop of Independence; and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews.
Deek was preceded in death by his parents; brothers: Robert and Jack; brother-in-law, Jim Leach; and beloved dog, Henry.
