Judy M. Peterson

 

Judy Marlene Peterson, 77, of Osseo, passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by her family, Friday, January 19, 2024.

Judy was born February 19, 1946, to Doyle and Mildred (Schultz) Rud at home in Thompson Valley, Mondovi. She was raised with her two sisters and three brothers in the Gilmanton area. Judy attended and was confirmed at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in rural Mondovi. She graduated in 1964 from Gilmanton High School.

On June 27, 1964, Judy married Rodney Peterson at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church. Together they had three children: Wade, Dawn and Troy. They farmed in the Alma/Mondovi/Gilmanton area. In 1978, they moved to Osseo and operated the Mobil gas station. The two later divorced. In November 1987, Judy married William Waddell. Judy enjoyed the outdoors, including riding horses and fishing, as well as listening to music, and watching old western shows. Judy also loved to cook for her family.

Judy is survived by her three children: Wade (Michelle) Peterson of Baraboo, Dawn (Todd) Quarne of Blair, and Troy Peterson of Osseo; four grandchildren: Adam Peterson, Gabrielle Peterson, Monte Amundson, and Ty Lunde; two great-grandchildren: Owen and Lucy Amundson; two step-grandchildren: Ryan (Mikayla) Quarne and Nate (Tristen) Quarne; two step-great-grandchildren: Colton and Josie Quarne; brother, Roger (Geri) Rud of Strum; Larry (Ruth) Rud of Gilmanton; and John (Sharon) Rud of Gilmanton; sisters: Carol (Roland) Pardun of Cochrane; and Mryna Rud of Eau Claire.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Doyle and Mildred; step-father, Oakley Schneider; husband, William Waddell; former husband, Rodney Peterson; son-in-law, Steven Amundson; and niece, Jackie Jo Rud.

A Memorial Service will be held Friday, January 26, 2024, at 11:00 a.m., at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, S750 Co. Rd. H, Mondovi, with Reverend Luke Peterson officiating. Visitation will be held Thursday, January 25, 2024, from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., at Kjentvet-Smith Funeral Home, Mondovi, and one hour prior to the Friday service at church.
