Leonard James “Jim” Stull Jr., 98, passed away peacefully, February 17, 2024, at Marinuka Manor Nursing Home in Galesville.
Jim was born September 24, 1925, to Leonard James Sr. and Wilhelmina (Rettler) Stull in Caledonia, MN. During his childhood, the family moved to Trempealeau. After graduating in 1943, Jim enlisted in the U.S. Navy as a cadet in the pilot training program. He switched to aviation mechanics and gunnery after the program was shut down. Jim achieved the rank of Aviation Machinist Third Class. During his service time, he met Jeanette Helen Blazek of Long Island, NY. Shortly after the war ended, they were married in Florida, and then permanently resided in Trempealeau. Jim was proud to serve in the U.S. Navy, and would share many stories of his adventures.
Jim was then employed by his father, doing plumbing and well drilling throughout the region. He took over the business, and then became a master plumber himself, employing many local workers until his retirement. Jim served with pride in the Lions Club and as Fire Chief for the community for many years. He enjoyed bowling and curling.
Jim is survived by his children: Sherry McLain, Russell Stull, Loreen Stull, and Edwin (Susan) Stull; sister, Ethel Ouellette; brother, Lawrence Stull; and five grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews, and other family members. Jim was well loved by all who knew him.
