Leslie “Les” A. Sluga

Leslie “Les” Alan Sluga, 62, of Whitehall, passed away peacefully in his home, Monday, September 25, 2023.

Leslie was born July 31, 1961, in Mondovi, to Adrian and Rita (Pullman) Sluga. He was raised on his family’s farm in Elk Creek with his parents and siblings. Leslie graduated from Independence High School in 1979, and was actively involved in Future Farmers of America (FFA) and the wrestling team. After graduation, Leslie attended Western Wisconsin Technical Institute for farm management. Leslie was married to Margaret Huson.

Les loved the outdoors where he hunted and fished. Even if he did not harvest an animal, he loved being out in nature, watching the squirrels and birds. In his younger days, he worked at the Elk Creek Cheese Plant and Elk Creek Feed Mill.

Les had a herd of black angus beef cattle as he had a passion for farming while continuing to maintain full-time employment at R.E. Beaudoin, Reglin & Hesch and R.J. Jurowski & Sons prior to his retirement in 2018 from Market & Johnson. Les was a go-getter. He was constantly on the go working, spending time with his family and especially enjoyed his time with his grandkids.

Leslie is survived by three sons: Michael of Jackson, Robert (Lindsay) of Chippewa Falls and Jacob of Eau Claire; three grandchildren: Lucas, Maybri and Zillian Sluga; three sisters: Lori Sluga of Eleva, Val Van Blaricom of Eleva and Shari (Cal) Everson of Strum; a brother, Danny (Wendy) Sluga of Osseo; several aunts, nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, grandparents and uncles, Les was preceded in death by his partner, Nancy Swanson.

A celebration of Leslie’s life will be held Saturday, October 7, 2023, from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m., at Jack Funeral Home in Whitehall. A memorial service will be held at 3:00 p.m., with Pastor Arlan Helstad officiating.
