Lorraine “Lorry” A. Brown

 

Lorraine “Lorry” Anne Brown, 96, of rural Whitehall, died Sunday, May 2, 2021, in her home.

Lorry was born June 4, 1924, in Rhinelander to William and Lillie (Helgren) Boelter. Lorry attended school in Rhinelander and, after graduating from high school, she went to Chicago, IL, and received her diploma from the American Academy of Art in dress design. After World War II ended, Lorry married Richard H. Brown, who was honorably discharged from the U.S. Navy. Together, they built three houses, raised two children and spent 62 years of marital bliss.

Lorry took art classes, and painted on and off over the years, painting miniatures for a time. She also liked to write poetry. After living in Rhinelander for over 80 years, Lorry moved to Whitehall and attended Grace Lutheran Church in Pleasantville with her son, Scott. Lorry was a member of the First Congregational U.C.C. for over 80 years.

Lorry is survived by a daughter, Gail Susan (Michael) Cochran of Naples, FL; a son, Scott Walker Brown of rural Whitehall; four grandchildren: Robert Troy Ross, Chad Walker (Andrea) Brown, Siera Kay Brown and Nathan Richard Brown; four great-grandchildren: Aiden and Finn Brown and Brady and Meadow Ross; a niece, Marcia M. (Wayne) Adams; a great-nephew, Matthew P. (Kim) Mullikin; a great-grandnephew, Liam Mullikin and a great-grandniece, Maggie Mullikin.

In addition to her parents, Lorry was preceded in death by her husband on February 23, 2008; a brother, William F. Boelter; and a sister and brother-in-law, Mary L. (Everett W.) Marg.

Memorial services will be held Saturday, May 15, 2021, at 11:00 a.m., Grace Lutheran Church in Pleasantville with Pastor Peter Jonas officiating. Committal services and burial will be Saturday, June 5, 2021, at 11:00 a.m., at Forest Home Cemetery in Rhinelander. Gail Cochran and Scott Brown willbe officiating. Friends may call one hour prior to the service.

Memorials may be designated to the American Cancer Society.
