Lorraine D. (Letson) Nehring

 

Lorraine D. (Letson) Nehring, 93, of Whitehall, passed away peacefully in the presence of family, at Gundersen Tri-County Care Center, September 24, 2022.

Lorraine was born August 19, 1929, in Taylor, to Harold and Agnes (Nordahl) Letson. She was raised in rural Taylor and graduated from Taylor High School in 1947. Lorraine was employed by Jackson County Bank until her marriage to Robert Nehring, November 5, 1953. They moved to their farm west of Blair and raised five children. She served as the clerk for the Town of Preston for 10 years. Later in life, Lorraine returned to work at the Union Bank of Blair until her retirement in 1994. In retirement, Lorraine was the site coordinator for the Senior Meal program for several years.

Through the years, Lorraine loved being a homemaker and was actively involved at Our Saviour’s Lutheran Church in Whitehall. She always enjoyed baking, was an avid seamstress, loved hand crafts, gardening, playing games, but most importantly, spending time with family. She loved hosting family gatherings and loved her time with children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. 

Lorraine is survived by her five children: David (Pam) Nehring, Joanne (Rick) Laabs, Gail (Steve) Radtke, Bobbi (Joe) Palecek, Linda (Jay) Vehrenkamp; 10 grandchildren: Liza (Kurt) Mathson, Josh (Haley) Nehring, Kelly, Daniel and Mitchel Laabs, Nate (Jaime) Radtke, Ben (Lauren) Radtke, Leah Vehrenkamp, Katie (Dalton) Sogla, and Abby Vehrenkamp; and great-grandchildren: Isaiah, Erik, Emma, Rhett, Emerson.

In addition to her parents and her husband, Robert, of 44 years, she was preceded in death by her sister, Nona.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Our Saviour’s Lutheran Church or Gundersen Tri-County Assisted Living. The family would like to thank the staff at Gundersen Tri-County that made such a difference in Mom’s life in later years.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, September 29, 2022, at 11:00 a.m., at Our Saviour’s Lutheran Church with burial in Lincoln Cemetery, both in Whitehall. Pastor Paul Sannerud will officiate. 

Visitation will be held Thursday, September 29, 2022, from 9:30 a.m. until the time of service, at Our Saviour’s Lutheran Church in Whitehall. Lunch will follow the services at the church.
